At Savour Studio, we understand that wine is so much more than what’s inside the bottle. It’s everything outside that tells its story. From luxury photography and video, to tasting notes and bottle shots, we ensure the taste of your wine is savoured long before opening.

Raphaela van Embden is a producer, wine writer and co-founder of Savour Studio.

Raphaela van Embden

Raphaela van Embden has always had a love for words. Having studied English and journalism, what drew Raphaela to wine was the stories. She has since tackled the vast gamut of wine, from e-commerce and branding, to academic research and media production, becoming a director of strategy agency Collectivantage at the age of 25. A graduate — and now examiner — of the UCT GSB Business of Wine programme and Michael Fridjhon Judging Academy, she was named Veritas Young Wine Writer of the Year in 2019 and one of WineLand Media’s 30 under 30 in 2020. Raphaela is currently completing her Masters thesis in Business Science, focusing on the production market of old vine grapes, whilst contributing to various wine publications, including her own creative project, Raphly Paired.

Michael Minnie is a director and co-founder of Savour Studio

Michael Minnie

Michael Minnie has always had a passion for the arts. He started studying classical music at a young age and later became obsessed with photography and the motion picture. He studied both filmmaking and business & marketing management, and has directed a range of commercials and videos for the likes of the United Nations, UNICEF and the One&Only, as well as a series of short and feature films shown on platforms like Showmax, Netflix and Kyknet. Katvis, his latest short film, went on to be nominated for a South African Film and Television (SAFTA) award for Best Short Film 2023.

Our studio

Raphaela and Michael first met when it was still acceptable to drink wine out of plastic cups and anything requiring a corkscrew was qualified as fancy. Having worked independently for years, Raphaela taught Michael about terroir and tannin, while he nurtured her creative eye as a producer. When working together became the favourite part of their jobs, they realised there was only one logical next step. Savour Studio brings together the very best of their skills: a love of wine, art and visual storytelling.

Raphaela van Embden and Michael Minnie always put wine front and centre.
